200th birthday!
This year — 2026 — Killearn Village Hall is marking our 200th birthday and we want to recognise this landmark and engage the community in the celebrations.

The building was built in 1826 as the parish church but when the neighbouring new church was completed in 1882, the older building became the new parish halls. In 1931, the parish started to use the former Free Church building – where the pharmacy is now located – as a church hall, and so the parish halls became what we now know as the Village Hall.

The Hall’s Operations Committee is a subgroup of Killearn Community Futures Company, itself an overarching charity comprising separate groups, carrying out community projects.

KCFC have been applying for funding to recognise the impressive milestone of 200 years. The idea is to landscape, develop and enhance the ground to the west of the Village Hall, taking advantage of the views out onto the Glebe and transforming the space into a usable place with a view.

The photo shows how landscaping might make the environment around the Hall more welcoming. Although we may not get the funding, a start has been made and we want to listen to residents’ ideas too. So get in touch!
KCFC would also like to have some form of fundraising and celebration event for the actual 200th birthday in June, and again we’re looking for ideas.

We’ll keep you posted on our website and here so please let us know if you’d like to help or would like to suggest an event for this auspicious occasion. We’re always happy to hear people’s ideas.
